Cycling Summits and Passes in California
by Michael Fiebach, tour started September 2013, submitted 30 December 2013

Cycling Climbs in Northern California: complete with elevation profiles. One of my favorite paved rides was a loop in Lassen Volcanic National Park, and crossing the Sierra Mountains on a small curvy road, that is very unusual for the USA: Ebbetts Pass.

In the not so perfectly paved category, my favorite ride was a ride around one of the volcanoes in the northern part of the state, Mount Shasta.

In the MTB trail category, some of the best views are from the Tahoe Rim Trail, around Lake Tahoe.

A mountain pass safari in the western alps
by Michael Fiebach, tour started May 2012, submitted 30 December 2012
language: en, de

This last spring and summer I was lucky enough to explore one of the world's most popular bicycle climbing areas in the world: the western alps. So I took lots of notes, and many pictures of my bike rides over more than 50 passes and summits.

Some of my favorite memories are these crossings: Col et Tunnel de Parpaillon , Col de la Croix de Fere , Col de la Cayolle

But summits do not have to be that high to impress with their beauty: For example the D32 summit in Utelle, or a ride over Col d'Eze or Colle Langan on the glitzy Cote d'Azure.

Cycling Passes and Summits in the Alps
by Michael Fiebach, submitted 29 January 2010

Cyling Passes and Summits in the alps: Here is a cross section of (sofar) 35 passes and unnamed summits - from the famous to relatively unfamiliar (ie from Timmelsjoch to Passo Cason di Lanza) - from a day long workout to pleasant afternoon climbs (ie from crossing Vrsic Pass to a nice hill outside of Vrsno) - from road to MTB rides (like the ride to the Karwendelhaus or Tiliacher Joch). All are represented with pictures, maps, approach elevation data -also many route descriptions, ride statistics and personal opinion. Content wil grow.

Bicycling Utah's summits and passes
by Michael Fiebach, submitted 18 December 2006

Utah is better known for its colorful canyon geography than its lofty summits. But it order to get to the summits, you have to traverse the canyons first. A cycling climb in Utah often involves a combination of arid canyons, mountains and forested plateaus. These pages derive from day rides or short tours taken over many years. They contain elevation profiles, pictures, route descriptions, maps and history for numerous summits. Some of these summits are part of popular touring routes, such as Ut12 connecting Capitol Reef and Bryce National Parks, or the Kokopelli's Trail near Moab. Many others see cyclists very seldom - includes paved and MTB summits - new summits added regularly.
