We started this tour after a very mild fall. We are two bicyclists Heide & Iris Flying in to the city of Catania Riding up to Aetna and further to Messina. We have even riding in Calabria. The Aspromonte mountain. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Good luck to our followers.

Counterclockwise loop in nine stages through the Flanders region of Belgium. Fine cities, excellent beer, and cobbled "walls" including:

• Oude Kwaremont
• Paterberg
• Koppenberg
• Taaienberg
• Grammont (Muur van Geraardsbergen)

A tour of Switzerland, Italy, and Austria on a triplet tandem (with support from an e-bike). As far as I know we're the first (and only) triplet to have done the climb on a triplet, with children under 11 (the children were 7 and 10 on the day of the climb).

In September 2020, I spontaneously crossed northern Poland in consistently late summer weather - two weeks in pure nature with a Bikerafting section on the wild river Lupawa. As a finale I went two days offroad directly along the mostly deserted beach of Baltic Sea...

Because Russia remained closed for tourist travels in 2020, I decided to go on a Bikerafting tour in northern Sweden to enjoy there an intense wilderness adventure. Together with a good friend we took a route that would lead us off all roads deep into the "Fjälls" - paddling from lake to lake and between cycling on hiking trails. How well we can go with our heavily loaded bikes on the hiking trails, we didn't know before, it was an experiment... we learned: it was more difficult than expected, but still a special experience to cross this amazing country in such an independent and varied way.

Ten years after I crossed the western Caucasus by bike, it was time to travel through the Muslim-influenced eastern part of the mountain range. The advantage of the belated completion: the autonomous republics of Chechnya and Dagestan presented themselves as relaxed travel countries, where the risk of terrorist attacks is no longer higher than in most major cities in the world...

I had planned to tour from Grenoble this year, taking in Mont Ventoux along the way. Covid ruled that out. I was still keen, however, to get a trip in, all the more so given the limits that have applied. I opted in the end for Wales.

This was a very enjoyable trip, with some breathtaking scenery, and some genuinely interesting towns. The trip took in long climbs, high passes and coastal roads. The variable weather and the costs in the UK are off-putting but in a year with constrained choices, this proved a memorable trip.

On the sea shore I found a middle sized fresh fish which I cut to pieces and eat raw as a sushi. The fish was a remarkable catch, like the one in Hemingway?s ?Old man and the sea?. The fish was a part of my scavenging routine. It started with a half of the sandwich which I found in the garbage box at the airport of Tromsø continued with a piece of cheese found near the toilet in one roadside rest-area. If I'd taken scavenging seriously, it could fulfill all my caloric needs.

Essere di nuovo sul suolo europeo non fu un sollievo neppure una liberazione. Eravamo partiti per visitare questa parte di Russia e nonostante l’idea dei giorni precedenti che ci conduceva a pensare che il programma fosse stato al di sotto delle aspettative, stavamo maturando la sofferenza di aver terminato un programma piacevole, senza seccature fastidiose e con sufficienti particolari da ricordare.

Vienna's critical mass took place October 18th 2019. Assembly 17:00, Start 18:00. My ride, about 20 kilometers. As usual a high number of participants. Meanwhile the local police is good prepared and directs the riders safe throughout Vienna's roads. It reminds me on the city tours I have been riding in the US. Per example "Le tour de San Francisco". Iris, the tired bicyclist has got a hit from destiny: Parkinson disease. Riding under pain, but forgotten when with other riders and mood is good. My first bike tour. I chose to do it in lightweight, credit card touring mode. I think this is the way I will holiday in future. No equipment needed.

In June 2019, I took both my sons (4 and 7) on a triplet from Zurich to Salzburg. My wife came along on a rented e-bike. The trip covered 372 miles, much of it along the Bodensee-Konigsee bike route.

We did the Werra Valley core tour. Based at Bad Salzungen we made classic tour to Merkers (Schaubergwerk), Vacha, the former border city with a wonderful old town and the historical Werra bridge. Bicycle trails in all directions. Good marked. We have been at Bad Liebenstein, Meiningen, Lutherort Möra, Tiefenort. Eisenach (Wartburg). Every day, we enjoyed the swim in the Gradierwerk Sole bath.

Our hotel: Solewerk Hotel. Very modern. The former name: "Freundschaft"- somehow typical for the times, when "real socialism" existed. Everyone who is interested to repeat this tour, should remember, the Rhoen Mountain range sucks some power off. Rolling mountains with heights up to 450 meters.

One thing which seems important to mention: The road to Eisenach is a very busy road. Beside the steep climb it is not wise to ride this road. We have exceptionally not found a bike trail...

A small piece of an amazing cake called Albania

This was a mixed bag in all senses. Lakes, mountains, sunshine and rain. A beautiful trip, crossing from Italy to Switzerland and back again. Recommended.

This was a great trip. I often think that I might improve an itinerary if I were to travel to an area again but not on this occasion. The scenery was stunning, the roads very quiet and the places I stayed in all had good places to sleep and eat in. It might be that there is a narrow travel window, with the winter too harsh in the mountains and the summer too hot. If however you can travel at this time of year, it is a great cycling destination which other cyclists have yet to discover.

A fixed based tour of Mallorca, followed by a fixed based tour of Girona, with a couple of days in Barcelona in between.

we traveled by train to Tarvisio Boscoverde train station. The bike trail (Bahnweg) is right at the station. It leaded us on good marked roads down to Grado. At Grado we spent onw rest day with a swim at the Adriatic sea. Our return way has been different: To Udine by bicycle, further by train to Pontebba and then Passo Pramollo (Nassfeld) Riding down the bike trail "R3" (Gailtalradweg) down to Arnoldstein, whereas we caught the train.

A classic tour in five riding days from Geneva to Grenoble. The ride took in the Col De Aravis, Cormet de Roselend, Col d'Iseran, Col de Galibier, Col de Sarenne and Col d'Ornan. The page gives the route, the places I stayed in and place I ate at.

We participated the Stelvio cycling day 2018. Road is closed for motor traffic from 8:00 to 16:00 hours
As there is no time to stall. we traveled by train to Landeck (Tirol / Austria). By Bus to Nauders / Austria With the bicycle down to Prad / Italy. Prad is the starting point for the participants. But, old and weak as I am we have been gaining height and distance (about 10 Kilometers) and went up to Trafoi, whereas our accommodation was located.
We accommodated at the Albergo Tuckett, Family Raffeiner. A rather old traditional hotel, but modernized and a wonderful owner lady who is known for her cooking in the whole area of Trafoi. Riding up from Trafoi in very wet and cold condition up to Franzenshoehe (about 2000 meters). Then the road has been closed due to bad weather. See pictures with snow.

From June 14th to July 3rd, Bowen, who at the time was 6 years old, and I traveled in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein on a tandem bicycle. We cycled 639 miles (1028km) and made 39,402 feet (12010m) of elevation gain. We had 5 train transfers, 1 taxi transfer, and 2 flat tires, with no days of riding in the rain.

There is no time to stall...

The best proof that there is no such thing as a "Master plan" in Nature is human evolution. When man rose to his feet and with a disproportionately large head significantly increased his center of gravity, the likelihood of falls and hip fractures increased by few tens of times. The evolution thus physically handicapped humans. Even on the intellectual side man did not perform as brilliantly as he likes to think. They don't say in vain that ten Doctors of Science can not answer the question of one chimpanzee. These are the fundamental issues that accompany me recently, when everyday human speech often seems a mere sound pollution to me. Like the noise of motorized leaf-blowers. That is why I had to leave my country this summer again, to keep my mind in a reasonably healthy condition. Just a small change was needed: the cycling journey to the Wild East, to Romania and Bulgaria.

Gouarec is unique as not only is it on the Nantes-Brest canal, but it is also where the V1 cycleroute crosses the canal. This gives lots of very easy and varied cycing both on and off road. The village has all you need and the whole place is very cycling orientated. The routes on this page cover very easy wobbles to some more serious rides, but all have a restaurant/bar at their turning point! Please use and share freely.

Queen weather in Austrias Waldviertel ("forest quarter"). - our Indian summer in the wine country, North/East of Vienna. An enjoyable ride.

Our tour started at Traismauer. Following the Danube trail west until Hollenburg. Crossing over at the bridge. Riding further West until Krems. The an uphill climb to Gneixendorf via "Bründelgraben". Riding on side roads to Langenlois. Lunch time at Langenlois! Continued riding on the "old wine street" (Bergstrasse Schiltern) towards Schiltern. And all the way back to Traismauer. Long term weather forecast was promising. But nature is out of control...

Starting at misty roads South of St.Pölten heading for the sun at the Ötscherland area made our hearts sing. A three days tour. Mixed: biking, hiking, wellness. Mixed: race bikes and one e-bike. Mixed characters...

This time a tour around Iceland is on my program, the land that looks like a divine geological experiment. The land where you actually see how the landscape is molded by the elements. Earth, water, fire and air: the elements are represented here in their most extreme manifestations. The earth that is literally torn apart by the divisive forces from the depths of the earth, the earth that is mostly bare and often more or less devoid of vegetation by the arctic temperatures and the barren climate or is completely covered by snow and ice. Water, that in falls from the sky in large quantities, flows to the ocean in majestic rivers, tumbles down in dramatic waterfalls or squits into the air as geysers. Fire bubbles continuously under the surface, but can burst into the sky at all times by one of the many volcanoes. Air is the element that I am confronted with most frequently as a cyclist, as the wind is raging over the mountains and plains of the fascinating island.
